The first person to proclaim the risen savior
was a woman.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO WOMEN

In all four gospel accounts of Jesus’ resurrection, women are the first at the tomb, the first to hear from God’s messengers, the first to see that Jesus’ body was no longer laid in his grave, and the first to tell others what they had seen, learned and came to believe.

In Matthew, it is Mary Magdalene and “the other Mary” who return to the tomb, are told by an angel that Jesus has risen, rush off to tell the disciples, and are met by the risen Christ along the way.

In Mark, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James, and Salome return to the tomb.

In Luke, two messengers tell the women Jesus has risen. They then go and tell all the disciples the news.

In John, Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene first.

These women are some of Jesus’ most faithful disciples. The women do not abandon him at the cross. The women return to care for him, even after he is dead.

In honor of their devotion and boldness, we present “The Gospel According to Women.”

Each year, WomanPreach! Inc. presents writings from amazing women on the Gospel texts that lead us from Holy Monday through Easter Sunday.

OUR INAUGURAL PARTNER WAS THE MILLENNIAL WOMANISM PROJECT.

Featuring fifteen pieces from fifteen women, written on selected texts from the gospels.

FOR 2021 & 2022, WE PARTNERED WITH RISE TOGETHER.

We presented writings that focused on the people
Surrounding Jesus in 2021 and on lectionary texts in 2022.

THIS YEAR'S PARTNERSHIP IS WITH THE the Black Caucus of the ACADEMY OF HOMILETICS.
